babybacter: Micuna’s antibacterial cribs

babybacter title

We live surrounded by bacteria, some are good, some are bad. Most of them on entering our body become harmless due to our own protective power. But there are many other species of pathogenic bacteria, such as Legionella, E. coli and Salmonella among others, which can be highly harmful to humans, to the point of causing serious disease.

Exposure to these bacteria by young children at home could cause discomfort or lead to a medical problem. That is why in Micuna we have chosen to make children’s furniture with additional protection against these microorganisms, thanks to our antibacterial paint, included in the products of the babybacter® range.

What is it about?

The babybacter® finish of our cradles and furniture has an active ingredient that contains silver ions, effectively and durably protecting the surface they cover. Its effectiveness extends throughout the life of the product, as long as the original paint that contains it is maintained.

The power of silver metal

Silver has always been considered an antibacterial and hypoallergenic noble metal. In fact, this component has been used for many years to ward off bacteria. Nobles in the Middle Ages ate their meals with silver spoons, the early American pioneers placed a silver coin in the bottom of water or milk barrels to keep them fresh and healthy. Much more recently, NASA has used this component to purify water from space vehicles.

It is for these reasons that babybacter® uses this non-heavy metal for the development of its active principle. In fact, this process was a pioneer in the use of silver ion technology for the disinfection of plastic surfaces, paints, textiles, etc.

How does it work?

The operation of this active principle is simple: thanks to the silver ions, the babybacter® paint prevents bacteria from developing, reproducing or duplicating themselves, causing their elimination within the first 24 hours. In fact, during the first 30 minutes, about 80% of them is removed, leaving the surface virtually clean of harmful bacteria.

The paint used on Micuna‘s cribs and furniture contain this active principle, so their surfaces instantly become antibacterial. This ingredient is effective as soon as it is affixed to the cradle and as long as the coat of paint has not deteriorated so that it could last throughout the life of the furniture.

Our home is the heart of our life, the place where we spend the most time, we feel comfortable and protected and where we enjoy our moments of rest. For these specific reasons, it is important that we keep our homes clean and free from pathogens that could interfere with and damage our health. Even more with regard to the room of the smallest of the house, this cleaning must be more exhaustive, so that the baby or the child does not develop allergies or pathologies during his childhood.

Why babybacter?

With babybacter®, you can keep bacteria away from your baby’s environment. The Paint of the furniture of the little ones will become the best antibacterial barrier, minimizing the risk to your child.

Moreover, since babybacter® paint inhibits the entry of bacteria, you can reduce the onset of colds or infection and keep your child healthier. Indeed, these microorganisms often use bacteria as a host before entering our body to infect it virally.
